College

Each of Olivet University’s colleges is designed to enable men and women to use various skills to reach the ‘network generation’ for Jesus Christ through vocational ministry, and to enable students to achieve a Biblical worldview.

Olivet University’s undergraduate and graduate academic programs are appropriate to the achievement of the University’s mission and to the educational programs offered. Olivet offers undergraduate programs in Theology, Music, Journalism, Graphic Design, Information Technology, Business, and Language Education. These programs are offered through seven colleges of Olivet University—Theology, Music, Journalism, Art & Design, Technology, Business, and Language Education.

Olivet Theological College & Seminary (OTCS)

The purpose of Olivet Theological College & Seminary (OTCS) is to provide church ministry-bound men and women with innovative educational experiences that follow the Christian faith tradition, but that also keep pace with developments in 21st century Christian mission and advanced scholarship.

Olivet Theological College & Seminary offers undergraduate and graduate educational experiences. Both the College and the Seminary are committed to scholastic achievement; to excellence in biblical studies; to the habits of Christian reflection and service; and to the active synthesis of theory and practice, both in church and non-traditional ministry areas.

The curricula of these schools are designed to train students for service as leaders in Christian life and thought. OTCS emphasizes the importance of cultivating future generations for Christian service, and providing them with traditional and specialized ministerial skills in a variety of different fields.

OTCS Bachelor of Arts in Theology Degree Program

The Bachelor of Arts in Theology undergraduate degree program offers four years of college-level training in biblical studies. Students enrolled in this program will study the bible in depth, including doctrinal and historical perspectives. The Bachelor of Arts in Theology program also features core curriculums in general studies and professional studies, with opportunities to apply classroom learning in practical ministry environments.

OTCS Master of Divinity Program

The OTCS Master of Divinity program is designed to prepare future ministers for work as pastors, missionaries, and chaplains in the world of 21st century Christian mission. This program provides students with core Biblical and theological learning, leadership training, as well as the skills necessary perform ministerial duties in the local church.

OTCS Master of Theology Program

Olivet Theological College & Seminary’s Master of Theology (Th.M) degree is designed to develop advanced scholars and ministry leaders who will meet the needs of academic and professional and ministry services around the world. Courses in this 36-hour graduate degree program provide students with scholarly competency and professional skills in the area of biblical and theological studies. It is a program that builds upon competencies developed in the Master of Divinity (M.Div.) program.

Jubilee College of Music (JCM)

Jubilee College of Music (JCM) provides students with a sound education in music within the context of an institution of higher biblical learning. Its Bachelor of Arts degree program enables ministry-bound men and women to develop, thoroughly integrate, and hone their musical talents for the purpose of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Bachelor of Arts in Music Degree Program

The Bachelor of Arts in Music degree program is designed to challenge students to achieve the highest artistic standards in their chosen field of musical study, while cultivating their spiritual development. The program’s medley of general education, theological, and music education curricular offerings provide students with an interdisciplinary academic perspective that is unique among music programs.

JCM Master of Arts in Music Program

Jubilee College of Music’s Master of Arts in Music degree is designed to develop advanced scholars and ministry leaders who will meet the needs of professional and effective music ministry services around the world. Courses in this 45-hour graduate degree program train students as professional musicians and music scholars with a solid Biblical foundation. Through coursework, scholarly research and performance study the program provides students with the academic and practical training necessary for them to become competent and influential individuals in the field of music ministry.

Olivet College of Journalism (OCJ)

Olivet College of Journalism (OCJ) provides future Christian journalists with the training in communications, theology, and the humanities that enables them to interpret contemporary Christian issues with insight and precision. A distinguished feature of the College is its curriculum, which couples an education in Biblical higher education with hands-on journalism experience, including internship opportunities in professional communications ministries. Olivet College of Journalism’s carefully selected student body, distinguished faculty, modern facilities and central location in the heart of San Francisco make for a quality and exciting educational experience.

Bachelor of Arts in Journalism Degree Program

The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism is a four-year undergraduate degree program preparing students for professional careers in Christian journalism. The program combines core curricular studies in bible, general education and journalism with the aim of cultivating a biblical worldview and professional perspective in OCJ students.

OCJ Master of Arts in Journalism

Olivet College of Journalism’s Master of Arts in Journalism degree is designed to develop advanced scholars and ministry leaders in who will meet the needs of professional and effective journalism services for ministry around the world. The Master of Arts in Journalism is a 45-hour graduate degree program. Courses prepare future media professionals for work as journalists, reporters, writers, editors and broadcasters in the world of 21st century Christian mission. Like all of Olivet’s programs, the Master of Arts in Journalism provides students with the professional skills on a sound Biblical foundation necessary to lead and advance Christian mission.

Olivet College of Art and Design (OCAD)

Olivet College of Art & Design (OCAD) offers students training in professional art and design studies, complemented by a focused biblical curriculum. OCAD holds that art and design – and human

knowledge as a whole – exist within the context of biblical truth, and therefore benefit from an educational approach that values both technical and scripture-based knowledge.

This university-wide educational philosophy, known as “faith first,” serves as the organizing principle of academic curriculum of Olivet College of Art & Design, which requires students to dedicate one-third of their program fully to Biblical studies courses.

Our students’ work speaks visibly to the value of our educational approach, and we encourage its broad application by our students after graduating from Olivet University.

Students who graduate from this school can expect to gain skills that meet or surpass industry standards for art and design techniques. They can also expect to gain sound biblical training preparing them to explore the interface between design, art, and contemporary Christian mission as future church and ministry leaders.

Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design Degree Program

The Bachelor of Arts degree program in Graphic Design is designed to provide talented men and women with a biblical postsecondary education that explores the connections between Christian mission, art, and design and prepares them as ministry practitioners in and beyond the local church.

OCAD Master of Arts in Graphic Arts

Olivet College of Art & Design’s Master of Arts in Graphic Arts is degree designed to develop artists and ministry leaders in who will meet the needs of professional and effective graphic design services for ministry around the world. This 48-hour program prepares students future artists for positions as lead designers, art directors, academia, and visual communicators for 21st century world mission. Students will engage in practical and analysis-based education in the visual arts, gaining exposure to professional examples and industry standards.

Olivet Institute of Technology(OIT)strives to equip believers with a sound biblical higher education, as well as cutting-edge knowledge and professional skills in the field of information technology. Students who graduate from the Information Technology Program are prepared to work in ministry environments that will enhance the ability of the Christian community to harness the power of information technology.

Bachelor of Arts in Information Technology Degree Program

The Bachelor of Arts in Information Technology degree program is designed to educate ministry-bound men and women with a biblical postsecondary education, and to equip them with the technical skills in information technology to propel Christian ministry into a new era of networks.

OIT Master of Arts in Information Technology

Olivet Institute of Technology’s Master of Arts in Information Technology (MAIT) is degree designed to develop researchers and ministry leaders in who will meet the needs of professional and effective technology services for ministry around the world. Master of Art in Information Technology is a 39-hour graduate degree program. Coursework provides students with training for becoming experienced and research-oriented IT professionals equipped with skills that benefit Christian churches and organizations.

Olivet College of Business (OCB)

Olivet College of Business (OCB) offers the Bachelor of Arts in Business and the Master of Business Administration degrees. The College exists to prepare graduates as business leaders who set a Bible-based, Christ-centered standard for integrity, morality, and professionalism in the world of business. With courses in the areas of economics, finance, international business, management, and marketing on a Biblical foundation, the OCB curriculum prepares students for exciting careers in all aspects of the professional world of business.

OCB Bachelor of Arts in Business

Olivet College of Business’s Bachelor of Arts in Business degree is designed to develop business professionals who will meet the needs of professional and effective business services for ministry around the world. The 120-hour undergraduate degree program combines core curricular studies in Bible, general education, and business. Upon graduation, students will be equipped with a Biblical worldview and a professional perspective necessary to contribute to a world revolutionized through Christian mission as business professionals.

OCB Master of Business Administration

Olivet College of Business’s Master of Arts in Business Administration (MBA) degree is a graduate professional degree program preparing students as business professionals with a mission focus. The MBA program is a 48-hour program with coursework training students as professional leaders in the field of business with a solid Biblical foundation. The program balances academic study with the practical training necessary for students to become competent and influential individuals in the field of business.

Olivet College of Language Education (OCLE)

Olivet College of Language Education (OCLE) seeks to provide language competencies needed within the missions profession. The purpose of the College is to educate students with translation theory and techniques to make the Gospel message more accessible to everyone. By training missionary and ministry translators, and also pioneering the use of computer technology to provide better translations in a shorter period of time, Olivet College of Language Education advances Olivet’s mission towards fulfillment of its vision that “the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea” (Isaiah 11:9).

OCLE offers a Certificate in ESL; a Certificate in Languages; and the Master of Arts in Translation and Interpretation degree.

OCLE Certificate in ESL

Effective writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills are central to Olivet University's mission and the hallmark of an educated person. The Certificate in ESL program stresses all aspects of English: speaking, pronunciation, listening, reading , vocabulary, and writing. Coursework is available at Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels of study.

OCLE Certificate in Languages

Olivet College of Language Education’s Certificate in Languages program is designed to provide professional training to mission workers who will meet the needs of interpretation services for ministry around the world. The Certificate in Languages (CIL) is a 21-hour certificate program that prepares ministry bound men and women for effective cross-cultural mission work in the area of interpretation. The curriculum is designed to train interpretation missionaries in the Chinese language.

OCLE Master of Arts in Translation and Interpretation

Olivet College of Language Education’s Master of Arts in Translation and Interpretation degree is designed to develop scholars and professionals experts who will meet the needs of academic and professional languages services for ministry around the world. The Master of Arts in Translation and Interpretation (MATI) is a 45-hour graduate degree that aims to equip students with increased competence and expertise in the areas of translation and interpretation, especially for the purpose of ministry work. Focusing on the languages of Chinese, Korean, and Spanish (all paired with English) the program provides training that equips students with analytical and technical skills according to contemporary translation theories and principles, as well as cultural literacy—all on a Biblical foundation.
