Theology College to Test-Run New Online Classrooms

March 18, 2014

Olivet Theological College and Seminary is scheduled to run a live testing of its new online classroom platform for spring quarter 2014.

After months of planning and development, the installation stage for the new Open edX platform is ready to launch a selection of theology pilot courses.  An evaluation and survey is scheduled to be performed after the spring term in order to obtain feedback from users.  If satisfactory, the college plans to switch its curriculum over to the new platform.

The rising number of student enrollment while catering to the school’s multiple locations across the US has prompted Olivet University’s flagship college to search for an upgraded platform.  The new Open edX online classrooms will look to handle more users for both students and faculty in various locations. Open edX was developed by MIT and Harvard for offering Massive Open Online Classes and adopted by Stanford and Berkeley right after being published as open source in 2013.
