OSAD Closely Encounters Idyllwild Art Community, Expecting Future Collaboration

May 26, 2016

Students and faculty of Olivet School of Art & Design attended Art Alliance of Idyllwild’s annual art show on May 21.

61 artists, mostly from Southern California, showcased their masterpieces at the event titled "Front and Center". OSAD Director Zimou Tan served as the judge for the art show. Students were fascinated to see various types of artwork such as painting, mixed media, photography, sculpture, handcrafted jewelry and wood art.

"It was truly a refreshing experience to see so many talented artists featuring their works in the beautiful mountain setting of Idyllwild," said Ezra Bartovic, a staff from Olivet University. "I can feel the American culture of appreciation and freedom through these masterpieces."

The art show provided a great opportunity for students to network with working professionals in the art field and it enriched their learning experiences. Through this event, the young generation of artists is not only able to flourish, but also to continue the traditions.

Art Alliance of Idyllwild President Mrs. Shanna Robb was invited to join OSAD annual art show at its Riverside campus later this year.

"OU's participation in the show, especially Zimou lending his experience in judging the wide variety of submissions, was a fantastic opportunity to connect with our neighbors. We witnessed a thriving art community in Idyllwild and look forward to future collaborations with the AAI,” commented Dr. Nathaniel Tran, Vice President of Development.
