Olivet University Opens Workshop on Turabian Formatting

July 28, 2018

Olivet University Dover has opened a special workshop on Turabian formatting and plagiarism-prevention at Fide Hall. The workshop aims at helping current students improve their skills when it comes to distinguishing what is and isn't plagiarism while using proper Turabian style in their papers.

Leading the workshop are seasoned media professionals who has worked in various ministries over the years and aided doctoral students in using proper Turabian format. The workshop delved into topics such as direct quotation, paraphrasing and secondary quotations. Students then had time to practice what they learned with exercises in class. The second part of the workshop was a step-by-step guide to create templates utilizing the Turabian format.

In the course, students were told that the work was technical and tedious, but it was important to start off on the right foundation in order to save hours of trouble later.

The university plans to open more seminars in the future including bibliography formatting, essay writing, and Doctor of Ministry paper reviews.
