SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--Olivet University is pleased to announce its purchase of Stevens Bookshop in Raleigh, North Carolina.
With over 500,000 Christian theological books, Stevens Bookshop is considered one of the largest Christian bookstores in the world.
The University approached owner Richard Stevens several years ago about working together to improve Olivet's library holdings, while assisting theological seminaries in other countries to build their collections. Now, Olivet University has initiated these plans, as well as strategies to expand the store's business through internet book sales.
"My vision for the bookshop had always been to build libraries for seminaries around the world," commented Mr. Stevens. "Now, working with Olivet University, I believe this vision can be fulfilled."
Since 1954 Stevens Bookshop has been providing resources and services under the ownership of Mr. Stevens, principally to local seminaries in the North Carolina area. With half a century of experience in the business, Mr. Stevens has become a renowned expert in theological book collections, attracting attention from scholars, librarians, and pastors across America interested in viewing and acquiring his substantial storehouse.
Dick Stevens continues working to expand the bookshop's operations together with the University.
