The Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) program at the Olivet School of Language & Education (OSLE) recently received approval from the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) to give TESOL certificate to students who finish 14 units of the program in California state.

The TESOL program is designed for students who already have an excellent mastery of English as its courses provide Introduction to TESOL methods and approaches; Teaching Material and Assessment; Introduction to Language and Language Acquisition; Introduction to the Structure of English and Teaching Grammar; and Cultural and Religious Understanding, Practicum, including Lesson Planning, and Classroom Research, and Professionalism. The curriculum also includes Teaching Techniques, Cultural Sensitivity, Language of the Mission Field, and Language Concepts.

"It is an exciting day where our TESOL program has finally received approval from BPPE," said OSLE Dean Dr. Jasmine Park. "We hope more students interested in teaching English will be equipped through this program. It is an important strategy to reach speakers of other languages around the world and share the Gospel in their future mission field."

OSLE's TESOL program is not limited to the introduction of different teaching theories, but very focused on real-time teaching practices in a classroom setting.
