Master of Arts in Translation and Interpretation (MATI) students from Olivet language school improve their terminology research and glossary building skills in the Terminology Management & Research course.
The course is designed to help students broaden vocabulary and develop basic terminology in the field of politics, economics, business, international trade, medicine, science and technology.
Students are required to read and listen to a variety of quality news articles from The New York Times and The Economist in an intensive way, which will broaden their vocabulary.
The course is helping students to gain command over new vocabulary and use them naturally. Consecutive interpretation in Chinese and English based on class material is advancing their learning ability.
In the second half of the spring quarter, students will learn to retell and paraphrase news content in English after 20-30 seconds of listening, which will enhance their analytical ability as an interpreter.
