Olivet University Marks 20th Anniversary Milestone with Reverence and Gratitude

Olivet University (OU) commemorated a momentous milestone on March 3, 2024, as it celebrated its historic 20th Anniversary service and ceremony. The event, steeped in joy and gratitude, brought together over 300 attendees, including the University's Founder, Dr. David Jang, esteemed faculty, administrators, alumni, donors, and friends, to reflect on two decades of service and dedication.

The Anniversary service commenced with a poignant opening prayer by Dr. Tom Cowley, Director of the DMin Doctoral Program, who invoked God's grace and guidance that has steered the institution over the past two decades. Dr. Peter Tzeng, Chaplain and COO, delivered a sermon on Philippians 1:3-6, titled "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion," emphasizing the University's mission to fulfill the Great Commission by proclaiming the Gospel and discipling all nations.

Highlighting Olivet University's role as a beacon for spreading the Gospel across cultural and linguistic barriers, Dr. Tzeng underscored the vision set forth by its founder and echoed by former honorary chairman Dr. Ralph D. Winter. The service concluded with a benediction by Dr. Ray Tallman, envisioning Olivet as a radiant university shining the light of Christ's Gospel in a world in need.

The Anniversary ceremony, led by Olivet University's Chairman, Dr. Nathanael Tran, featured a vibrant choir performance by the Jubilee College of Music and a reflective video commemorating two decades of academic and spiritual growth. Dr. Matthias Gebhardt, University President, expressed profound gratitude for God's grace and faithfulness throughout the University's journey.

In his keynote speech, senior faculty member Dr. William Wagner expressed gratitude for the privilege of serving at OU and emphasized the collaborative effort between senior faculty and the younger generation in fulfilling the Great Commission. Dr. Wagner's poignant words inspired hope, urging continuous prayer and anticipation of greater divine works through Olivet University.

The ceremony culminated in the awarding of Certificates of Appreciation to the University's Founder and esteemed faculty members, recognizing their unwavering dedication. Additionally, Certificates of Student Recognition were bestowed upon graduates who exhibited outstanding contributions to ministry.

The event concluded with a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony, symbolizing a new era of revival and abundance of grace for Olivet University, as it continues to shine the light of Christ's Gospel across the globe.
