The founder and inaugural president of Olivet University is Dr. David Jang, a Professor of Systematic Theology who has dedicated his life to saving at least one more soul by sharing the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
By the time Dr. Jang founded Olivet University, his years of grassroots mission work on foot and through digital media had carried the good seed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to many far-reaching corners of the world, including places hostile to Christian faith. The thankful result was a harvest of men and women devoted to Jesus Christ and working together for the Great Commission to "go and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19).
Dr. Jang set an example during his tenure as president by working with great Christian leaders to bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the University. He enlisted the help of supporters such as Dr. Ralph D. Winter (founder of U.S. Center for World Mission, Time's 25 Most Influential Evangelicals in America) and future presidents Dr. David Randolph (Ph.D. Systematic Theology), Dr. William Wagner (former Second Vice President of the Southern Baptist Convention) and Dr. Tracy Davis (Doctor of Ministry, Academic Dean). This resulted in rapid developments, including the establishment of the Ralph D. Winter Library and a university system offering multiple disciplines.
The vision cast by Dr. Jang, to establish formal theological training to prepare young men and women to transform the world through Christian mission, has resulted in a school that continues to serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
