Seminary Students Reflect on Apostle Paul's Born-Again Through Study of Romans

January 29, 2020

Olivet Theological College & Seminary (OTCS) has brought forth many courses for students in the Winter quarter, allowing students to schedule their classes that meet their academic goals. One of the highly anticipated courses is Romans Part I.

Students filled the lecture room every Saturday afternoon to listen to the exposition of Romans taught by Dr. Christy Tran. During last week's lecture, Dr. Tran took students on a journey to reflect on the author of Romans Apostle Paul's personal encounter with Jesus. Students were very touched by the unconditional love of God, which is revealed not only to the chosen people but also to the persecutors and enemies.

MDiv student Liting Miao shared her reflection. "I feel a stream of love and peace flooded my heart when I listened to the lecture today. Jesus revealed himself to Paul and showed him true love. Even when Paul persecuted Jesus' beloved disciples, Jesus watched over him but still chose to love him until the end. This is the love of God. His love is perfect and profound."

"Apostle Paul experienced his born-again in this love. This can also happen within me. When the light of God's love shines upon me, I can feel that all my sins are washed away. A new me was born - only by grace," she continued.

Romans Part I is designed to provide students with an in-depth look at the book as well as the important Christian doctrines discussed in the passages. The Part I course covers Romans chapters 1 to 8 while Part II deals with chapters 9 to 16.
