JCM MIDI Course Paves Way for Students to Publish Their Own Songs

February 05, 2020

Olivet University's Jubilee College of Music (JCM) launched a music production course about MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) for the Winter quarter.

MIDI is one of the most important tools for musicians and producers.

The course introduces students to the fundamentals of music production revolving around composing MIDI notes, recording audio tracks, and installing various types of virtual instruments on the music tracks. The skills learned throughout the course allow students to compose, arrange, and publish their own songs with Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software.

Music student Coco Chang said, "It is really useful for music students to have a better understanding of MIDI skills which can bring forth new inspiration towards their choice of instrument as well as developing a taste for other instruments."

Course instructor Jerry Park believes that all JCM students will become Christian artists and the MIDI course will pave the way for them to publish their own music to spread the Gospel.
